Statement from Ronnie & Mat
We feel the need to address the situation that we are in, more so due to the attitude of several of you and the rudeness our staff has had to be dealing with from some of you…..do you think we are doing this on purpose? Do you think we are purposely hindering our own sales?
Before we start, we will re inform you and tell you exactly what our staff have said to you, Diageo, who own Guinness, have majorly ballsed up, they haven’t brewed enough Guinness and are blaming the Rugby from a few weeks ago and influencers now enjoying a pint of the brown stuff for their socials, this means that every single pub, social club, members club, Irish bar, basically any place that serves Guinness on draught, are now being restricted by there suppliers and wholesalers to 1 barrel, yes 1 barrel a week!
You can call any supplier that you can find up and down the country if you don’t believe us or better still call Diageo yourself and hear it from the horses mouth
This is not our fault, so stop acting like it
is….do you not think that we are not frustrated with this situation?!
We are restricting sales of draught Guinness for as long as we can, this is why we are serving Guinness draught until 7:30pm until we run out, which we are hoping won’t be until the end of next week, some venues will be out within days, we have bought as many pint cans of Guinness as we could to still be able to sell you Guinness, now we have heard all the complaints about taste etc from the cans, but, again you can call Diageo, the drink in the can is exactly the same that’s in a barrel, the only difference is that the head will be slightly bigger on a draught pint due to there being more nitrogen than in a widget in a can, so, the cans will now be kept on ice so that they are served at the same temperature as if it was poured from draught ie extra cold
Now if we were so bad would we have bought literally every pint can that we could get our hands on? Of course we wouldn’t!
This is from Diageo themselves:
‘Taste and texture: Canned Guinness Draught is designed to taste and feel like a pub-poured pint, thanks to a nitrogen-filled ball inside the can’
We know it won’t be 100% the same but it’s close enough to a draught pint and is the closest we can get in this current national situation inflicted upon us by Diageo
So, this isn’t just us, it’s nationwide, so please be nice, you can only imagine how angry we are about this as is every other pub landlord up and down the country as hasn’t our industry been hit hard enough since Covid!
You can find all of this yourself online if you haven’t already read it
