A little word from Fiona at Imago
The charity Imago supports lots of different people through their services, one of which is Bexley Young Carers. Young Carers are children and young people who care for someone, a sibling or parent or other family member who has a disability, long term health condition, mental health issue or substance misuse issue.
Since October 2016 Imago has worked with Young Carers in Bexley aged 8-18. In 2018 there were over 270 Young Carers supported. The support is tailored to their needs and may include 1:1 support, in school support, Workshops, action plans or respite activities.
Through fundraising Imago is able to give the Young Carers a fun break from their caring role through activities and run workshops to teach skills e.g. 1st aid, cooking, safety in the home and give the Young Carers the chance to meet others, as often they feel like they are the only one.
